MMI works in the northern tip of the region of West Bengal in India, an area surrounded by Bhutan on the east and Nepal on the west, providing easy access into those countries for evangelism. This is a heavily populated region, home to millions of people who have not been reached with the Gospel. MMI’s work in North India and Nepal is directed by Pastor Sajal Basumata. Local PartnershipMMI established North India Ministries with a national Board of Directors, as a local partner to oversee its work in North India and Nepal. In addition, MMI provides support for Pastors in North India who do the work of evangelism, teaching, and care within their own communities. EvangelismThe MMI vision to reach one million people with the Gospel by 2020 originated in North India. The emphasis of the work in this area is preaching, film, and public worship events that introduce people to the Gospel message and invite them to respond to Jesus’ invitation to follow Him. The current mobile evangelistic team reaches to about 400-600 people weekly. Bible TrainingMMI provides curriculum for Bible Training of leaders in this region preparing ministers of the Gospel for newly planted churches. North India Ministries trains leaders so they can teach others and establish home Bible studies and churches throughout the region. ConstructionNorth India Ministries has purchased 1.3 acres of land to build a Bible Training Centre. The site will host the Centre where leaders will be trained to continue the work of evangelism, church planting, and discipleship of believers. In keeping with MMI’s emphasis on holistic ministry, the structure will also serve as a multi-purpose building where Christian programs will impact the society through diverse training programs.
