At the heart of the Christian story is the God who pursued us when we were destitute and alone. He adopted us as His children, and invites us to live as His sons and daughters. Perhaps nothing makes this truth more tangible than when Christians follow in their Father’s footsteps, opening heart and home in unconditional affection to the child that has no claim upon them but love.

Started in 1993 by Pastor Bill Spletzer and Miriam Abelong, Manna Home for Children has been helping the most underprivileged children of Palawan in providing Christian education and a safe environment for growth and development.

Along the years, MHFC has grown to excellent peaks. Many children grew to become godly community leaders and pastors currently involved serving churches in Palawan Association of Bible Churches. Currently Manna Home for Children serves only four children in the Residential Program and many others in the Non-Residential Program.

Considering the enormous needs of Palawan where more than 50% of families live under the subsistence level, Manna Ministries International is considering restructuring the actual program to accept 10 more children in the program. As we are preparing for the new challenges, Miriam Abelong – MMI long-term ministry partner- is thriving. “I see how these children are changing,” she explains. “But I think the society is changing through them even more”. I could not help to reflect for a while at these words. With MMI experience in the Philippines, it’s true. About every child that was raised at Manna Home for Children had been a significant addition to Palawan and to the Filipino society.

With our partners support Manna Home meant more than a meal and a good bed. For the two generations raised here, it meant providing an education according to the godly principles found in the Scriptures. This is what brings strength to our program. And though the road can be hard, even painful, it always leads closer to Jesus.
